Breast Cancer 3-Day - we made it!

I need to get back into blogging habit, but at least I have an excuse for being away for 3 of the days... a couple weekends ago J and I participated in the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk! Our pictures from the adventure are below:

It was a really amazing experience... we didn't train as well as we should have, but still managed to survive it in one piece (though with many blisters - serves me right for not training!) and I would actually do it again. It was incredible how well it was organized & to be around so many supportive people!

I promise to get more regular updates going here, but hopefully the pics will help to tide curiousity in the meantime!

"Funniest" Site Ever

'Flower

One of my all-time biggest pet peeves is when people use quotation marks incorrectly. You know, a store will have a sign in its window proclaiming a Great "Sale"... so not truly a Sale, but a fake Sale? I am always pointing them out to the lucky person who happens to be with me... and I just discovered a blog for those like me!

The "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotations is hilarious! The pictures are great, but the commentary & subjects truly make it.

For example:

The picture to the right had a title of 'Possibly a drag event' and the description:

I guess everyone is working under stage names this evening.

So funny!

60 Miles to go!

Shameless plug...
Pugs in Pink

Starting this Friday, J and I will walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men as part of the Breast Cancer 3 Day. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. Every advancement in breast cancer research, treatment, education and prevention in the last 25 years has been touched by a Komen for the Cure grant. They are working hard to build a future without breast cancer, and we each plan on raising $2200 to help bring us closer to that goal.

Without a cure, one in eight women in the U.S. will continue to be diagnosed with breast cancer. According to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, more than 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease.

Support us in raising awareness and funding of breast cancer research... any support is appreciated & no donation is too small! To make a donation, go to my donation page: http://08.the3day.org/goto/nicolemccabe

Thanks!

Dance Dreams

It's true that I have a love of most reality television. Especially the dancing ones. A show that I ADORE is So You Think You Can Dance... if you don't watch, you have been seriously missing out!

Each week the contestants are paired up & pick a dance style out of a hat... they then learn & perform a routine that is choreographed for them. It is so entertaining, mainly because they are all really good dancers. They obviously don't know the styles they dance each week (their backgrounds are really varied - contemporary, hip-hop, ballroom), but it is so neat to watch these great dancers perform.

In honor of the show's final week - the last dances are next Wednesday & the finale/results Thursday, some of my favorite dances from this season:

Gives me chills.
